Thoughts

Ever since I was born, I’ve always had a big brother to look up too. ❤️ The first time he tried to kill me we were living in Taunton when I was about 8. He suggested a game of chicken in the park behind our house. He would ride down the grassy hill on his bike towards me and we’d avoid each other at the last minute. As he rapidly hurtled down the hill towards me I suddenly realised I didn’t fully understand the rules of the game? Was I supposed to get out of the way, or was he? At the last minute I decided to go left. He decided to go right. We ended up in a heap in a large puddle of water with my arm through the spokes of his wheel. Amazingly I wasn’t injured , so I’m counting that as a win. The second time was in Stoke Poges, a few years later, when we decided to build a go kart. As the oldest, Steve was chief designer and builder, and I was the test pilot. Unfortunately, we only had three wheels, so Steve thought it best to have one wheel on the front and two on the back 😳. Who was I to know better. On test day, I sat in the cockpit with a handy piece of string to steer the front wheel. As I hurtled down Bells Hill it dawned on me that this may not be entirely adequate, and that we hadn’t considered brakes😳. Fortunately I survived that one as well. It’s no coincidence that Steve decided his future lay in making and building things, whilst I decided to become a Design Engineer 😂 We both shared a lifelong obsession supporting Plymouth Argyle, travelling across the country as teenagers, visiting glamorous venues such as Hull , Gillingham and Bury, usually in the freezing cold or pouring rain. Loved every minute 🙄 Will miss you big bruv 😢💚💚💚
